Obesity may cause insulin resistance which is substantial and a precursor to raised levels of blood sugar. The situation is made much worse with daily consumption of increased amounts of sugar containing goods. If a joint is changed, what can generally occur are further side effects after the surgical procedure. The joint that was changed may begin to be mechanically unsound which can be highly undesireable.

There is increased risk for acquiring blood pressure conditions when a person is obese. As with several of our bodily functions, excess fat puts a severe strain on the body. The existence of so much fat is simply a huge demand for oxygen which is supplied by the blood. The net effect is to put a terrific strain on the heart because of the needs of the extra fat tissue. Not remarkably, one's heart must create a lot of pressure to keep all that tissue oxygenated. There is also a boost in the heart rate as it works in response to all that requirement.
